Billing policy

Last updated 28 August 2026

1. Plans and what they cost

There is a free tier, a pilot, and three paid plans. Plans differ by how many requests per second you may send. Paid plans do not cap total volume.

PlanPriceRequests / second
Free$01
Pilot$0, card on file1
Starter$95 a month1
Growth$275 a month5
Scale$455 a month10

2. The pilot card

The pilot asks for a card so we know you are a real business rather than a throwaway signup.

The card is never charged. The pilot is not a trial that converts, it does not become a subscription, and nothing happens automatically when the balance runs out. You can remove the card at any time.

One pilot per account. If you are already on a paid plan you do not need it.

3. Billing and renewal

  • Paid plans are billed monthly in advance, in US dollars, through Stripe. The contracting entity is Horizon Goods and Services, trading as Up.
  • Your plan renews on the same day each month until you cancel.
  • A failed payment is retried. If it keeps failing we move the account to the free tier rather than deleting anything.
  • Prices can change with at least thirty days notice, never inside a month you have already paid for.

4. Changing or cancelling

You can move up or down between plans at any time from the dashboard. An upgrade takes effect at once and is charged pro rata. A downgrade takes effect at the start of the next month.

Cancelling stops the next renewal. You keep the plan you paid for until the end of that month, and your account then moves to the free tier. We do not delete your data when you cancel.

5. Refunds

If the service is materially broken for you and we cannot fix it, write to us within thirty days of the charge and we will refund that month.

We do not refund a month that was used normally, and we do not refund partial months on cancellation.

Where local consumer law gives you a stronger right to cancel or be refunded, that law wins over this policy.

Nothing on the pilot is ever charged, so there is nothing to refund on it.

6. Running out of requests

Free and pilot accounts have a fixed balance. When it reaches zero the API answers 402 and stops serving, so you are never billed by surprise.

Paid plans have no balance to run out. They are limited by rate, not by volume. See the plans.

7. Failed payments and disputes

If you think a charge is wrong, contact us before raising a chargeback and we will look into it and fix a genuine mistake.

We may suspend an account with an unpaid balance or an open chargeback until it is settled.

8. Tax

Prices are shown before tax. Where we are required to charge sales tax, VAT or GST, it is added at checkout based on the billing address you give.

9. Contact

For anything about a charge, a plan, or a refund, write to us and a person will answer.

Questions go to [email protected].

10. Currency and invoices

All prices and charges are in US dollars. Stripe issues a receipt for every payment, and past invoices are available from the billing portal in your dashboard.

11. Larger volumes

If ten requests per second is not enough, write to us. We can discuss a higher rate on terms that suit the load.

12. Trials and discount codes

A discount code applies to the months stated when it was issued and does not renew beyond them.

We may end a promotion at any time, and doing so never affects a month you have already paid for.

13. Closing your account

You can close your account at any time. Closing it cancels any subscription at the end of the paid month, and your data is handled as set out in the data privacy notice.

14. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. The date at the top always shows the current version, and a material change is announced before it takes effect.
