Terms for the API

1. Accepting these terms

Email Finder Verifier is an email verification and finding API run by Horizon Goods and Services, trading as Up.

By creating an account, generating an API key, or calling the API, you agree to them. If you are agreeing for a company, you confirm you may bind that company.

2. What the service does

The API checks whether an email address can receive mail, and can work out a likely address from a person's name and their company domain.

It does this by opening a standard SMTP conversation with the mail server that is responsible for the domain, in the same way a sending mail server would before delivering a message. No message is ever delivered to the person.

Results are a best effort. Some mail servers accept every address, some refuse to answer, and some answer differently at different times. We report an unclear result honestly rather than guessing.

3. Your account and API keys

• You are responsible for everything done with your API key. Keep it secret and out of browser code.
• Tell us straight away if a key is exposed, and we will issue a new one.
• One account per organisation. Do not create extra accounts to get around a limit or to claim a free balance more than once.
• We may suspend an account that is being used to abuse the service, and will tell you why.

4. Requests, credits and rate

Usage is measured in requests. A verify call uses one request every time, whatever the answer.

A find call uses ten requests, and only when we return an address. If we find nothing, you are not charged.

Each plan sets how many requests per second you may send. Go over it and you receive a 429 response. Paid plans do not cap total volume.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• resell, sublicense, or expose the API to your own customers as a verification product,
• use it to send or facilitate unsolicited bulk mail that breaks the law where your recipients are,
• check addresses you have no legitimate business reason to contact,
• attempt to overwhelm, probe, or reverse engineer the service or the servers it runs on,
• share one API key across separate businesses,
• use the service to harass, defraud, or build a profile of a private individual.

Breaking this section is the one thing that gets an account cut off without notice.

6. Data you send us

You keep ownership of the addresses and names you submit. You give us permission to process them only to answer your request and to keep the service working.

You confirm you have a lawful basis to hold and check that data. How we handle it is set out in the data privacy notice.

7. Plans, payment and renewal

• Paid plans are billed monthly in advance through Stripe, and renew automatically until cancelled.
• The pilot plan asks for a card to confirm you are a real business. It is never charged and does not become a subscription.
• You may cancel at any time, effective at the end of the paid month.
• We may change prices with at least thirty days notice, and a change never applies to a month you have already paid for.

8. Availability

We work to keep the service up and fast, but we do not promise a specific uptime figure, a specific accuracy figure, or a specific bounce rate.

The service depends on mail servers we do not control. We may pause it for maintenance or to protect it from abuse.

9. Liability

The service is provided as it is. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for lost profit, lost business, or damage that follows from your use of a result we returned.

Where liability cannot be excluded, it is capped at what you paid us in the three months before the claim.

Nothing here limits liability for fraud, or for anything that cannot lawfully be limited.

10. Ending the agreement

You may stop using the service and close your account whenever you like.

We may end or suspend access if you break these terms, if payment fails, or if we stop offering the service. If we withdraw the service entirely we will give reasonable notice and refund any unused paid month.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of India, and the courts of Bengaluru, Karnataka have exclusive jurisdiction.

If a clause is found unenforceable, the rest still stands.

12. Changes and contact

We may update these terms. Material changes are announced by email or in the dashboard before they take effect, and the date at the top always shows the current version.

13. Services we depend on

The service relies on a small number of providers, named in the data privacy notice. Their own terms apply to their part of the work.

If one of them changes materially, we may adjust ours, and you will be told before it affects you.

14. Feedback you send us

If you send us an idea for improving the service, we may act on it without owing you a fee.

That does not give us any right to your data, your lists, or your own product.
